Franklin Street in Bloom💮

Historic Homes and Cobblestones
2

Happy Saturday readers!

Welcome to the sixth episode of Virginia Snapshots — where you join me on a walk through my little corner of the world.

These are relaxing tours of interesting places — and you know there are history fun facts. I do my research beforehand 😉

If you’ve ever had a curiosity to learn more about the Mother of All States, I hope you’ll join me for Virginia Snapshots.

This video content is personal to me — I’m leery about putting my face in public posts, one of the reasons I’ve tried a few “faceless” YouTube channels — so Virginia Snapshots are filmed exclusively for paid members.

I’d love it if you’d join me for an intimate journey through the place I call home.

On today’s walk, we take a stroll down historic Franklin street — seeing gorgeous 19th century homes, a cobblestone street — and our last glimpse of this year’s cherry blossoms.

Don’t worry — they’ll be back next year.

And in the meantime, more of Virginia’s beauty awaits!

Walking down Franklin Street feels like walking back in time — if you ignore the cars.

That’s one of my favorite things about Richmond — photographs from a hundred years ago don’t look all that different.

It’s one of the reasons that many historic films set in and around DC are actually filmed here — including Ethan Hawke’s John Brown, Stephen Spielberg’s Lincoln, and PBS’s Mercy Street.

The other reason? It’s way cheaper to film in Richmond than in DC.

Fun fact that I recently learned — set designers use walnut shells to simulate dirt roads without the mess.

Cool, huh?

Since today’s theme is stunning old Richmond homes — I thought I’d re-share this Mini Snapshot from my Libby Hill Park walk.

Because this house is amazing.

I’ll record more of these “Mini Snapshots” for all subscribers. But if you’re enjoying these videos, I hope you’ll consider becoming a paid subscriber 😊

And since it’s Caturday — some impromptu Mr. Kitty for you:

Out like a light and meowing in his sleep 😂🐦🐈‍⬛
