Hi readers!
Welcome to the first episode of Virginia Snapshots — where you join me on a walk through my favorite spots in my little corner of the world.
These are intimate, relaxing tours of interesting places — and you know there will be plenty of history fun facts. I do my research beforehand 😉
If you’ve ever had a curiosity to learn more about the Mother of All States, I hope you’ll join me for Virginia Snapshots.
This video content is personal to me — I’m leery about putting my face in public posts, one of the reasons I’ve tried a few “faceless” YouTube channels — so Virginia Snapshots are filmed exclusively for members of the Curd Crew.
I’d love it if you’d join us for an intimate journey through the place I call home.
Today’s walk is through Chimborazo Park — a 33 acre oasis of serenity in my storybook neighborhood.
This peaceful park is set along a bluff overlooking the James River — the main artery of colonial Virginia that leads straight through the Tidewater to Chesapeake Bay.
As a large, flat hilltop on the edge of the city, Chimborazo Park has its share of history — including the military kind.
In fact, part of it is a National Battlefield Park. Learn why in the preview!
There’s also lots of big trees flocked in snow. The snow is the reason I chose to launch Virginia Snapshots a little early — it was too pretty not to share with you.
Once spring arrives, I plan on releasing a new Snapshot every week. Springtime is a real stunner in Virginia with all the flowering trees.
And autumn? Just you wait. I’ve got a series of Snapshots coming about my favorite historic cemetery. In fact, giving tours tours there last summer gave me this idea!
I’m so excited to share my love of this beautiful, historic storybook place with all of you on Virginia Snapshots!
