I saw your comment on Charlie's post, and I quite agree. It's hard to know how to view my fellow Americans anymore. I don't know quite how to process that so many still support him. Have they accepted the propaganda or do they actually agree with his actions. It's mind-blowing.
I hope you get to feeling good enough about things to write about cheese again! 🧀🧀😋
As of 11:03 PM, 11,300 birds crossed over Los Angeles County. I had no idea. I have heard some geese fly over our home a few times, though. I like to run to the window to see them fly in formation.
Also, if there is something you want to participate in as a distraction there is the City Nature Challege going on this weekend. You take pictures of any wildlife, animals or plants, in your neighborhood and upload them to a website. Then in the coming days you can help to identify what people have uploaded. Check out https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/city-nature-challenge-2025
We also have a band of Parakeets that live in the area. It is my understanding that they are the descendants of some that either escaped or were set free by pet owners. The neighbor across the street plants Sunflowers in her front yard each year to help feed them. They are fun to watch but can be quite noisy. Fortunately, they do not spend too much time in any one area.
Oh cool!! I've been watching YouTube videos on identifying bird songs, but this is way better. I see it being used often on future visits to the Virginia Birding and Wildlife Trails! Thanks so much, Jenny!
Cornell is incredible, I never knew how magnificent their farming and wildlife programs are until I started digging. They also offer online courses on how to start your own small farm!

Hang in there. "This, too, shall pass."
Sometimes you just need to take a road trip and decompress. Today was a good day.

310,000 birds flew over Richmond last night! I bet you get some cool species out in California migrating from Baja to Canada!

I wish we'd gotten a picture of the Osprey we saw today!

I also read somewhere that y'all have Cardinals in Southern California who were brought there by settlers from the east. So interesting!
Have you heard of this app https://merlin.allaboutbirds.org/ ?? Just thinking about what brings joy. If does for us!
