Your writing is SO GOOD. I wanted to get that in there before I said..."You have a beautiful cat" although I think you would've been ok with just that too. I also appreciated that the house on the James river is still standing...I think that about the trees in my yard and around our neighborhood. They've been through a lot too and survived. Have a great weekend!
You are too kind, Jeff. Your comment put a smile on my face and warmth in my heart this morning. Helps me keep going with my writing. Thanks for the coffees, btw.
There's a tree at Hollywood Cemetery that was cut down last year, and they made a "grave marker" for it out of the trunk. It was estimated to be "born" in 1770. I've thought about that tree a lot this week. We will survive, but it won't be the same as before.
Mr. Kitty is extremely handsome and he knows it. He's also decided that he prefers "extra fancy rabbit" because of course he does. 😉 I hope you have a great weekend, too, friend.
No. And I suspect, when you come down to it, most times are “interesting” in one way or other. I remember the Vietnam war, for instance, and various tough economic times. It’s rare there’s ever a period of real peace.
That's true. But I do think we're caught in a "catastrophic 15 car pileup" instead of a fender bender. And the jaws of life aren't on the way until the GOP decides to send them.
Yeah, it does feel more catastrophic than events in living memory. A “hundred-year storm”, as it were. Hopefully not literally — the Great Depression of the 1920s was, perhaps, even worse!
It's awful and feels so illogical. Things that were solid are now deeply uncertain. This too shall pass I hope, but the lessons we are teaching the world about the U.S. will linger. It is hard to know if we are living through a blip or a fundamental shift.
That's my fear, too, Deidre. That the post WWII world created by the Greatest Generation is finished, because we showed our allies our ass. Germany clawed its way back into the world order, but it will take years, if not decades, to fix this damage.
So senseless and pointless. Were things perfect? Of course not. But it was a fairly peaceful and prosperous time for humanity. Gone. All for naught.
I loved hearing your voice on that video ♥️
I miss you, too, Jenny ❤️ Imagining the halcyon days of 2012, sitting at a little pub in Norwich, before the world went crazy.
I hope you're both doing ok. Happy that you're safely in Blighty. Your photos are one of the only reasons to log in to FB these days.

Hang in there. This, too, shall pass.
Thanks, WS. I never wanted to live through "interesting times" but we don't get to choose when we are put here.

I pray that Congress will stop this madness before it gets worse. But I'll believe it when I see it.
Likewise, and likewise. But I've been wondering since at least 2008 when enough will actually be enough.
